Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Asfar mobile application and the related backend services (together, "Asfar" or the "Service"). Asfar is produced by Areen ("we", "us", "our"). By using Asfar you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility and Account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Asfar. You authenticate with Apple ID or Google Sign-In; we never store your provider password. You are responsible for everything done under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your access devices secure.

2. What Asfar Does

Asfar lets you photograph pages from printed books and converts them into translated, narrated audio you can listen to on your device. The Service uses automated text extraction, machine translation, and synthetic voice. We do our best to be accurate but cannot guarantee a perfect transcription, translation, or narration of every page.

3. Your Content

You retain ownership of the photographs you upload and any annotations you make. By uploading content you grant Areen a limited, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process, transmit, and display that content solely for the purpose of operating the Service for you. We do not use your content to train AI models.

4. Acceptable Use and Copyright

You may use Asfar only for content you own, content in the public domain, content you have permission from the rights-holder to convert, or content you have a legal right to use under fair-use, fair-dealing, or equivalent local copyright doctrine.

You will not use Asfar to:

• Process copyrighted material you do not own or are not licensed to use.
• Distribute the audio, text, or images generated by Asfar to other people in a way that infringes the original author's or publisher's rights.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, including content prohibited by the laws applicable to you.
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or rate-limit-evade the Service.
• Use the Service to harass, defame, or threaten any person.

We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate this section. We respond promptly to good-faith copyright complaints; email legal@areen.ai.

5. Credits and In-App Purchases

Asfar uses a credit balance to meter paid features (text extraction, translation, and audio synthesis). New accounts receive a free starting quota.

Additional credits are sold as one-time consumable in-app purchases through Apple's App Store. All purchases are processed and billed by Apple under Apple's terms. Credits are consumable and are deducted as you use paid features.

Credits are non-transferable and have no cash value. Credits do not expire while your account is in good standing. Refunds are governed by Apple's policy; we cannot issue refunds for completed App Store purchases ourselves, but will assist you with the App Store refund process where appropriate. There is no subscription and there is no recurring charge.

6. Service Changes and Availability

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may suspend the Service for maintenance. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

7. Termination

You may stop using Asfar at any time and delete your account from inside the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially violate these Terms or if continuing to provide the Service to you exposes Areen or other users to legal risk.

8. Intellectual Property

The Asfar application, the Asfar name and marks, and the underlying backend code are owned by Areen and protected by copyright and trademark law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on devices you own or control.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, Areen disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. AI-generated extractions, translations, and narrations may contain errors and should not be relied on as authoritative.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Areen will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Areen's total liability to you for any claim arising from the Service will not exceed the amount you paid Areen for credit packs in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Apple End User Licence Agreement

If you obtained Asfar from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply: this licence is between you and Areen only, not with Apple, and Areen is solely responsible for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no warranty obligation, no product liability, and no responsibility for addressing claims relating to the app. You acknowledge that Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to your licence to the app, and may enforce these Terms against you.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which Areen is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence still apply.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify you in-app on next launch. Continued use after a material change constitutes acceptance.
